Lost & Found

03May11

I was off work last week so got the chance to spend my time sifting through other people’s detritus aka charity shop shopping. Unfortunately I didn’t succeed in providing a new home to much, however hidden amongst the pages of a Penguin published edition of The Invisible Man from 1946 was this photograph. I love the ephemera that often accompanies such purchases and this is no exception.

As an aside this edition of The Invisible Man was one “of a uniform set of ten volumes of Mr Wells’ works specifically published in commemoration of his eithieth birthday, September 21st, 1946”, it goes onto say that of each of these volumes “one hundred thousand copies have been printed”.

That seems an awful lot of copies.

And an odd way to spell eightieth.
