Didn’t We Have A Lovely Time The Day We Went To . . .

Day #01
A long daydream of a drive across England and then through a disarmingly striking North Wales (which was all new to me) began our break to Ireland. As we travelled through Wales it started to pour down with rain which seemed appropriate as the surrounding countryside was suspiciously greener than home. We arrived at our initial destination, Portmeirion, having shaken off the said precipitation, allowing the sun to show the the village in a much much better light than the gloom that had welcomed us to the country.
Portmeirion was an unsurprisingly peculiar place – a mix of strangely shaped and brightly coloured buildings set on the edge (the very edge) of the North Wales coast. Pleasingly eccentric and shambolic (in the very finest sense of the word), it’s a collection that surprises and delights in equal measure and I’m glad that we finally made it.
And yes we did also get to Bangor.
