My maternal grandmother, who has lived on her own for many years now, is slowly reaching the point (because of her reduced mobility) where she’s going to have to relocate to somewhere new. As a result of this she’s beginning to divest herself of some of her belongings. Some are objects of little value and even less import, some though are steeped in so much significance they have become articles of consequence far greater than their intrinsic value.
These pictures are of one such object, my grandfather’s Certificate of Service from his time in the Army, and show quite plainly that he was a much finer man than me.
