Wales 5 England 0

As both Mrs Weir and I had arrived in Wales harbouring summer colds we were keen to avoid too much time dedicated to the tarmacadam so we decided to visit Llangollen on others recommendation and because it was only a short, albeit alarming, drive away.
My guide which to be frank was being wildly upbeat about almost everywhere mentioned superpassed itself regarding today’s destination : “no setting more suited to the furtherance of word-wide peace and understanding could have been found than Lllangollen”.
I’ve no idea whether they’ve had much influence on the state of world-wide peace however unlike Rhyl Llangollen was well worth a visit, offering us a steam railway, a public house overhanging a raging River Dee and a remarkable expansive secondhand bookshop hidden away in the long since moribund cinema.
