The Art Of Medicine

06May12

Over the last week I’ve spent more time than I really wanted to at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

To be honest I suppose no one finds themselves wanting to spend more time there but such is the nature of these things. Thankfully it appears to be staffed by some remarkably able indiviudals who seem determined to make any time with them as comfortable as they can.

The other thing that makes time there just marginally more bearable is the abundance of art that hangs on the walls of the corridors and walkways.

According to the hospital’s website “Addenbrooke’s Arts enhances the hospital environment for patients, visitors and staff, by lifting the spirit and bringing pleasure through an innovative, stimulating and engaging arts programme including visual and performance arts”.

So if you’re an artist, poet, musician or performer and would like to get involved you can contact the Art Curator over here, quite frankly there’s plenty of us out there who need our spirits lifting.
