Still Interested II
And so to part three, this time MC’d by Matt Jones and his young assistant Arthur Davies (who was particularly keen on keeping everyone to their allotted times!).
#18 Alex Deschamps-Sonsino opened the third session of the day with ‘5(ish) Minutes On Paper’ and got everyone to follow some frighteningly complicated origami instructions – which no-one seems to have been able to follow . . .

#19 Tuur Van Balen then took things to an even more complicated level with his frantic bio-technology based presentation, “I’ve never done bio-technology under such time pressure!”.
#20 Jon Gisby thankfully (for my increasingly alarmed brain) then calmed things a little by getting everyone in the room to stand to follow with him in a short (and sweet) lesson in how to conduct a symphony orchestra.

#21 Jessica Bigarel then talked about her her meta meta data data all lovingly captured through Daytum.
#22 Craig Smith followed with a talk entitled ‘Water Wheels’ which in essence was a very endearing talk about his dad, a man who apparently “sharpens a drill bit better than any man in Huddersfield”. Further information included that his dad had recently got married (thanks in part to the foot and mouth outbreak in the UK) on the 21st December – not because it was the shortest day as was suggested to him by Craig, but because it has the longest night . . . To be fair Craig did also show us the five different types of water wheels in order to avoid be accused of miss-selling and I can tell you that they go by the names of under shot, breast shot, over shot and pitch back – hang on that’s only four ?
#23 Tom Fishburne was then next on and rattled through a talk about innovation and cartoons entitled ‘Everything I needed to know about innovation, I learned by drawing cartoons’.
I was feeling a little warm and weary at this point so #24 Anab Jain’s talk about her Indian superpowers, #25 Naomi Alderman’s talk about Greek tragedy and goats and #26 Gavin Bell talking about the writing of his new book about Social Media all passed me by in a bit of a blur – don’t be offended folks . . it’s not that you weren’t interesting it’s just that I was flagging.
#27 Emma Marsland reminiscing about the ‘ponies she has loved, real and imagined, from since 1970’ woke me from my fug which is good because I wouldn’t have wanted to miss her list of superbly named imaginary horses from when she was younger.
#28 Nick Hand then closed the third session with details of his journey around the coast of mainland Britain by bike, with occasional stops to meet and film craft folk. I’ve been following Nick on Twitter for some time now and once again it was a shame he couldn’t talk for longer.
